Basurama
How could we promote yard cleaning habits in a fun way?
At House of Inventions, we love improving our surroundings, and this time, students were determined to make a change regarding the littering in the schoolyard.
They came up with a creative solution: Basurama, the game of throwing garbage! Basurama transformed the act of throwing away trash into an engaging game. Along the way, we tested other fun ideas such as a catapult that throws the garbage to our neighbor on the other side of the Bravo river; but that was not a friendly option.
With Basurama, waste disposal became exciting and rewarding. The schoolyard improved, and students realized that small actions can lead to a significant impact.
We started this challenge by observing the main problem areas and selecting one to focus on
-
For a better visualization and understanding, we made a model with LEGO. This helps show ideas and build them while telling. And it's fun,
-
And started prototyping solutions right away. Prototypes must be quick and dirty
-
-
-
-
And tested all the prototypes
-
When we chose which prototype worked the best, we refined it with the help of our friend Horey Silva
-
Learning carpentry along the way
-
-
Now we needed to add some color here...
And who better to teach us than street artists Yorch

Basurama is ready! to this date it lives in the school yard of Altavista Highschool.
